The Love Bridge by the Louvre

Two is better than one.

Tradition is to throw the keys into the water but we didn’t want to litter so we kept our keys.

Had our last bottle of French pink champagne by the Seine river

We sat there until the sun went down.
We couldn’t have picked a better city to spend two weeks away from home after our wedding. On our last night in Paris we attached our locks on the Love Bridge, sat by the Seine river like the locals with a bottle of champagne and savoured the city. I was actually really sad to leave and would love to live in Paris one day- love the culture, the atmosphere, the food, the very effortlessly chic fashion appeal and I absolutely adore how the joy of living is valued here.

Having a rich and creamy Gorgonzola Spaghetti at our fave pizzeria in Montmartre

Yummy Lebanese Vegetarian Plates with pita bread at the Latin Quarter

Curt had a shit ton of pizza- he had it almost everyday haha. Here I had some kind of Parisian style salad with melted goat cheese on toast at a Cafe a few steps from Galeries Lafayette.

We had a lot of Indian food- they had great Indian restaurants, super cheap too!

Loved getting sun-drunk outdoors while having local French red wine and antipasto

We could not get enough of Lebanese Vegetarian Plates – enjoyable and delish assortment of tastes -love!
I had been asked before we left for Paris what vegetarians would eat in the land of escargot, foei gras, duck confit and other gastronomic traditional French delicacies. Actually, we dined as we would back home. We love Mediterranean food, Indian and Italian. Although we did indulge in a lot of fresh gourmet cheeses, fresh baguettes and croissants that we don’t really have back home – for some reason the cheeses here taste waaaay better. OMG and their butter tastes creamier and richer here! Overall we had amazing food and impressive dining experience. Here in Paris, servers don’t just give you the bill when you’ve been at your table for a while- rushing people to leave is such a North American thing. Parisians want you to enjoy the atmosphere and take your time, - the servers will only bring you the bill when you ask for it and they treat everyone equally because you don’t really have to tip them as it’s included in the bill. It’s all about quality service.

Standing behind the shiny golden gates of Chateau de Versailles

Lavishly decorated palace adorned with gold accents and marble, inside and out

In front of one of the many fountains in the estate

Overseeing the seemingly endless land

Curt and I had to watch this movie as soon as we got back to our apartment – loved it, amazing soundtrack too

The infamous, gorgeous and almost fake looking garden

Spotted in Marie Antoinette’s estate, The Temple of Love

Wandering through the enchanting maze-like gardens
We had no idea how gigantic Chateau de Versailles was until we spent the entire day walking through the enormous estate. I can’t believe the history that went on here, and to have actually walked in the same grounds was completely surreal. My favourite part of the day was the majority of the time spent outside the palace in the gardens for such a perfect sunny day. Everything was just truly lavishly beautiful from the fascinating topiaries to the amazingly ornate fountains that I wished I saw functioning as it were centuries ago.

One of the dark, long underground tunnels that led us to the remains of about 6 million people.

In every direction, walls were filled with stacks of skulls and bones from floor to ceiling.

Some hallways were gated and barely lit, some were locked in chains not sure why but through the gates were still walls and walls of bones.

Les Catacombes de Paris
This is a strange post but I just had to share this with you. Being underground in a space filled with human bones was an eerie experience- sure it’s a tourist attraction but when you actually realize what you’re seeing, it’s kind of spooky. It was dark, cold and quiet – the sound of dripping water from the ceiling’s moisture, the wind travelling through small hollow spaces and fellow visitors whispering to each other was all we could hear. The low ceilings showed trails of burn marks from torches used centuries ago. It was definitely creepy…but also very cool.

What I was wearing: Topshop Chambray shirt and grey skinnies; Zara scarf; Balenciaga ”City” bag in “Anthracite”; Frye ”Engineer 8R” boots

Curt trying to capture the beauty of the amazing painted ceilings

Blown away by the stunning Roman statues

The actual image of the most famous woman in the world: Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci

The captivating, Atala Portee Au Tombeau by Girodet-Trioson moved us. I could cry for hours staring at this image.

Louvre at night
Our first time at the Louvre was completely overwhelming. Every inch of the place was a work of art- I literally didn’t know where to look first and I didn’t want to miss a thing. We spent about three hours or so in the museum until closing time and I think we covered most of it. Still can’t get over the unexpected burst of emotions at the sight of the Atala Portee Au Tombeau- absolutely captivating.

About to do some damage – love my body language here haha

What I was wearing: Rayban Aviators; Zara military vest; Pink by Victoria Secret neon yellow lounge shirt; Current/Elliott black skinnies; Michael Kors saddle bag

After being sun-drunk, walking for hours it was really nice to take our shoes off and cool off on the grass in the park.

Happy Honeymooners ; )
After coveting Balenciaga‘s iconic ”City” for years, I thought it would be perfect to finally get it in one of the fashion capitals of the world- it was actually cheaper too! I got it in “anthracite”- its a grey-black with a hint of blue. Such a great classic addition to my little bag collection! Yay! Btw I was really impressed by the staff at the Avenue Montaigne store, very helpful and super friendly.

“Memento Mori” Gold vermeil cuff & Silver spike band
Corpus Christi is definitely one of my favourite finds in Montmartre. The boutique’s artfully appealing window display drew me in as we were strolling down the street. Dainty and fragile looking jewelry are presented in rows on white, bleached wooden tables, some enclosed in glass and the rings are half buried in black sand. The price points are quite high but these one of a kind pieces are worth it. Curt got a thick silver band with spikes on the entire surface as a pinky ring and I got a thin cuff with the Latin words “Memento Mori” (“remember death”) engraved on top with a dangling mini silver skull charm- I love the engraved words, it’s important to remember death to live your life to the fullest.

View from our place

It was really sweet of our landlord, Fleur to greet us with a bottle of pink champagne

Adorable bedroom!

My husband relaxing by the balcony

This will be our workout everyday

Looove the neighbourhood!
Seriously falling in love with this city more and more every day! How many times am I going to use the word “love” in this post?! I’m sorry but Paris is the “city of love” after all. Anyway, we really lucked out in this neighbourhood – tons of cafes, restaurants, vintage shops and trendy boutiques in every single street! It’s just at the foot of Sacre Couer. Definitely not missing Toronto just yet ; ) xo

Hotel De La Tremoille

Cozy suite with the comfiest bed ever!

Enjoying the fresh morning breeze from our balcony
Beyond impressed by this hotel! Would highly recommend to anyone who plans to stay in Paris within steps away from Champs Elysees and Avenue Montaigne. La Tremoille is also only a ten minute walk away from the Eiffel Tower. Aside from the breathtakingly amazing location and impressive customer service, the complimentary breakfast delivered to your door is absolutely delish! I can not gush enough about this luxe, trendy cosmopolitan hotel!
P.S. As a fashion obsessor and a first timer in “Paree“, I had goosebumps and was overwhelmed at the sight of all the designer boutiques on Champs Elysees- I am also in awe of the Parisian style. The city is hands down a haven for street style bloggers.

Windsor Arms Hotel Spa
The day before the wedding, one of my besties Jessica and I spent the morning getting pampered at the luxe Windsor Arms Hotel in Yorkville- relaxed in their gorgeous pool followed by a Shellac mani and a very soothing pedi.

After the spa I went back home to meet up with Curt, grabbed our stuff and headed to the Port Credit Go Station to catch our train to Union.

We checked in at One King West as soon as we arrived downtown Toronto and had our best friends come over for drinks, pizza and cupcakes later that night.

We went for a walk before bed, we were way too excited and nervous to sleep!

On the way up to our suite.

Here’s a twitpic of our officially married hands in our wedding photographer’s car on the way to our photo shoot just after the ceremony.

A shot of one of my stunning and delicious red velvets as wedding favors made by the super talented Megan Wappel - check her out!
Even though I’m in Paris for our honeymoon, on our down time I will try to blog as much as I can to keep you updated! And once I get the link to our wedding pictures from our photographer- I will definitely share some of them with you! xo
